Zwilling J.A. Henckels know a thing or two about knives and cutlery - they've been making them for over 275 years and are responsible for some of the most important developments in the manufacturing process. In 1939 they developed the FRIODUR® Ice Hardening process to produce no-stain steel. In 1992 they unveiled their new production method - Sintermetal Component Technology (SCT). This new technology allowed for the three parts of a knife (blade, bolster and tang) to be seamlessly created using three different formulas of steel.
Today, Henckels Knives are world renowned and are the first choice of knife for many professional chefs and home cooks alike. The ranges available reflect this - from the entry level Twin Pollux to the professional's choice of Four Star, there's a knife range to suit everyone.
| | | Henckels Knives Information | Over 275 years ago, on June 13th 1731, Peter Henckels first registered the Zwilling (Gemini) Twin Logo. Since the first office was opened by Johann Abraham Henckels in Berlin (and lent his initials to the company name), Zwilling J.A. Henckels has become a large international company. A limited edition Four Star knife set is available to mark the occasion. | | Always at the forefront of new technology and standards, special materials and processes developed by J.A. Henckels have improved steel quality, corrosion resistance and blade sharpness. Henckels knives will last you a life-time - unlike cheaper knives they will stand up to rigourous use, washing and sharpening. They are very well balanced and comfortable to hold even for longer periods of use. | | The Sintermetal Component Technology (SCT) process developed in 1992 was developed by J.A. Henckels to allow differing grades of steel to be combined to form a single integral piece. In this manner the three parts of the knife (the blade, the bolster and the tang) are made from different types of steel each of which is the optimum grade for that part of the knife. The result is a knife that sets standards that other manufacturers try to follow. |
